With 2020, we begin a new adventure: Regesta LAB, a division of Regesta, specializing in Advanced & Predictive Analytics, IoT and Machine Learning.
Talking about digital transformation today, necessarily means, considering all the elements that allow companies to optimize processes – productive and decision-making, through advanced analytics solutions, artificial intelligence and predictive models.

Digital transformation has put data at the center of every organization. Companies are inundated with data and often struggle to identify what is most important and what actions to take (or avoid).
It is in response to this need that we created the Regesta LAB division, with a dedicated team of talent integrating data scientists, specialists in advanced analytics, big data analytics and data integration, predictive mathematical-statistical model development, and artificial intelligence (AI) algorithms. With Regesta LAB, we are not limited to the SAP ecosystem: we integrate technologies and cloud service platforms, from Amazon Web Service to Google Cloud Platform, we have initiated university collaborations and a center for “open innovation” aimed at industrial manufacturing.

Our president, Francesco Brunelli, tells “The starting point of our projects is often the management system (ERP), which encompasses all business processes, dialogues with production systems (MES) and goes so far as to create the so-called Intelligent Enterprise.
That is, the company that governs its systems has up-to-date, easy-to-access data to quickly assess what is happening and also why. But our support goes beyond that; it is aimed not only at reducing operating costs, but also at creating additional value added to what companies are able to generate on their own ”
Giovanni Pigoli, Partner at Regesta LAB, points out “The innovation that Regesta LAB can bring is an organization that makes ‘data driven’ decisions, (from reactive action to predictive action) and is imbued with Augmented Intelligence in which the analytical power and speed of Artificial Intelligence exceptionally increase business effectiveness and enable new opportunities.”
Among the most cutting-edge projects we have already initiated is Predictive Quality with Feralpi Group, which was awarded Bronze Winner of the Innovation category in the SAP Quality Awards Italy in 2019.
The system uses all the latest technologies based on predictive models and machine learning and puts the company in a position not only to have constant control over the steel casting process (the strategic heart of the company), but also to predict possible critical issues and, in case they still occur, to intervene quickly.

Thanks to the so-called Digital Twin, with more than 200 IoT sensors providing real-time data, operators have a monitoring panel of the casting stages, which, with traffic lights turned on, provide immediate alerts on both any unexpected behaviors in the process or material and statistical predictions of their next occurrence.
This is a project that integrates the entire supply chain and allows machine learning models to be fed through feedback received from end customers as well.
Nicola Segnali, Regesta’s Business Innovation Manager and Regesta LAB Partner, tells us , “For another manufacturer of semi-finished ferrous products, we developed a project, again in the area of predictive for quality, applied to the process, which allowed us to pre-determine the occurrence of quality problems in manufactured goods 5 minutes in advance and with a statistical reliability of more than 85 percent, allowing us to realize high economic savings and with a return on investment of less than a year.”
The issue of quality is undoubtedly very much on the minds of all manufacturing companies, along with that of maintenance, which is another factor to be managed, planned and, where possible, predicted. In this area we are developing a Predictive Maintenance project for a company in the transportation sector, with the aim of optimizing maintenance interventions on some key components, making them become “Smart Products” in their own right.
Regesta LAB projects thus touch on the most advanced frontiers of information technologies, from IoT connectivity on a global basis, to the integration of large masses of data on cloud platforms; they also involve predictive statistical models, maximizing the operational and economic results of the processes involved.
The convergence of digital transformation business strategies and the integration of these technologies on business processes and products enables possible new business and service models, making the most of the disruptive opportunities offered by new technological and IT paradigms.
With Regesta LAB we therefore renew our goal of being a leader in accelerating our clients’ business growth, effectively and concretely applying the decades of experience gained on industrial processes. The territorial horizon is undoubtedly international, considering that many Brescian and Italian companies are actually small multinationals with offices everywhere in the world.
