A banner year in 2012/2013 for the Marcopolo Rugby CUS Brescia. The city rugby team, sponsored by Regesta, gained access to the B series after a successful season.
Last June 2 was the match of truth. On the Tartaglia field in the city, the cheers of the faithful accompanied the victory achieved against a Belluno team that took the field promising battle. The opponents, who only a week earlier had beaten the city team, led a balanced match but could never impose themselves: mastery in the scrum, Marcopolo CUS Brescia’s strong point, made the difference.
With the victory, the points achieved in the season are 99, the same as Lumezzane’s, and worth Rugby CUS Brescia promotion from the elite round of the C series to the top category for the 2013/2014 championship. For the first time the Brescia team will face a decidedly more important tournament, without the consolation of having current coach Giorgio Rigosa as its leader. The coach, in fact, will leave the leadership of Marcopolo Rugby CUS Brescia after four years, “definitely satisfied,” but eager for new experiences.
“We concluded an extraordinary season at its best, especially by closing the round on equal points with Lumezzane, on paper given as favorites,” the coach emphasizes. “The result rewards a group with a lot of character, to which the new arrivals have given an important added value that has allowed them to make the difference and make the whole collective grow.
For three seasons now, Regesta has stood by the city’s team, supporting rugby, a sport that is growing in the hearts of Brescians.
