Regesta grows: “But we can’t find senior figures”

Thirty-five booths were taken by storm, not only to receive information on career opportunities, but also to leave their resumes. So many entities–companies, public agencies, associations and professional bodies–present at Career Day yesterday, some of them looking for staff. Possible at a time when work seems a chimera? In Brescia, evidently, yes. Like Regesta, present among authentic giants (A2A, Kpmg, Calzedonia, Cameo or Tenaris), a Brescia-based gem that deals with Sap management systems. The company, founded in 2007 by four young professionals (today the partners have become six), has grown at a rapid pace, reaching in just five years 40 employees plus six permanent staff, “and with only two defections,” notes one of the partners, Francesco Nassini. That’s not all, because some positions are still vacant: “We place about six high school graduates and recent graduates a year on paid probation for six months, and then they come on stream,” explains Nassini, who hopes to find new faces thanks to Career Day. Not only very young people, however: “We are also looking, and not with little difficulty, for senior figures, one in accounting, one in purchasing, and one in sales.” BUT WHAT MAKES it so difficult to find qualified personnel in this sector? Perhaps the short history behind it: “The Sap boom was between 1998 and 2002,” Nassini recalls, “so there are not many qualified people. In addition, this type of work is a mix of IT, interpersonal, engineering and economic skills, which require considerable mental and approach flexibility. So much for a brain drain! There is still room in Brescia, and the company on Via Oberdan proves that for quality and expertise there is even still a market. MI.BO
