SAP TechEd in Barcelona 2018
SAP TechEd is the annual culmination for technology news, new solutions and professional updates. We couldn’t miss it again this year, and we showed up in Barcelona with a team of 6 people to be able to cover most of the presentations and take home the most innovative and advanced that can be found in technology. We always want to be one step ahead in hitech solutions so that we can provide our customers with the best competitive advantage.
TechEd 2018 in numbers:
- Over 6000 participants from all European countries and beyond
- 916 sessions divided into insights, previews and roadmaps
- 148 Works on lab to be able to try out products and technologies
The main theme is the digital innovation of the industry of the future in which the ERP system is only one component of a complex ecosystem of “smart” and highly connected software.
SAP’s proposal is based primarily on Sap Hana, the in-memory DB that has revolutionized SAP software architectures over the past 5 years, and the SAP Cloud Platform, the digital platform that hosts Machine Learning and Artificial Intelligence services, These two components are the pillars of the DigitalCore on which SAP has created the entire suite of software for the intelligent industry.
Cloud, Cloud and more cloud: very strong emphasis on this theme, which for customers translates into:
- Ability to access the ML and AI services of the Sap Leonardo offering
- Integration with new Cloud-only software (SuccessFactor, Ariba, etc.).
- Simplification of business infrastructure
- Always up-to-date versions of software that is sold as SAAS (software as a service)
Good news for Abap programmers, at last it is now possible to program in Abap also on the Cloud Platform, where until recently only Java and Node.js were available. This again denotes Sap’s desire to move as many customers as possible to cloud solutions.
Of course, hybrid scenarios are envisaged, as there is an understanding that this migration to the cloud will be a long process over time that will have to be done with small evolutions rather than sudden revolutionizations
