May marked the end of the 2013-2014 season for “Marco Polo CUS Brescia,” a city rugby team sponsored by Regesta. The partnership between the process and information management software company and the rugby team is now in its third championship. In recent years it has been a crescendo of successes that have seen CUS Brescia cross the threshold of a prestigious category for the first time this past season: the national B series. The B is organized on a territorial basis; in this one, teams from the northwest area, which includes Lombardy, Piedmont, Liguria and Valle d’Aosta, compete against each other. The second series comes right after the professional A series, the pinnacle of Italian rugby.

In the start of the year, the Regesta-sponsored team got off to a strong start, achieving an excellent score and ending the first round with a mid-table finish: an excellent result for the rookie lineup in a series that also involves semiprofessionals as well as young hopefuls. In the second phase of the championship, Marco Polo CUS Brescia had to struggle with fierce opponents; the certainty of salvation came with four days to go before the conclusion of the games, fully centering the goal.

In the season that will kick off next October, President Artemio Carra’s team is aiming for a mid-to-high level championship, with the expansion of the staff through young players, particularly students from Brescia universities; over the years it has grown from 4 university starters to today’s dozen, young promises who wish to establish a name that is making its mark on the rugby scene at the national level.
